First and foremost, we are a passionate community of Jiu Jitsu coaches and friends. We are incredibly affiliated to Kevin Capel at Roger Gracie academy, BUCKS. David started his introduction to grappling alongside karate friends via Philippino martial arts instructor Krishna Godhania, then a brief but powerful introduction to Jiu Jitsu through Ebe Ghansah before finally meeting and training MMA and Submission Grappling with Neil McCleod in his garage. It was through Neil that he also met Kevin Capel who remains Davids' lead Jiu Jitsu instructor to this day. David has worked as a full-time martial arts instructor since 2005. Learning Jiu Jitsu quickly turned from a hobby to a passion, and so Jiu Jitsu came to Bicester, where what would become Inspire jiuJitsu, began.
David has competed at national, European and world BJJ Competitions, and coached others to do the same. Inspire Jiujitsu was named and launched in summer 2019, with amazing help from even more amazing friends we were given the opportunity to rebuild an old Bull shed on a farm in Bicester, Oxfordshire and open our full time gym and community space. The idea of the gym was to always be a hub for jiujitsu, and the community. When we designed the space, we wanted to create a relaxed, laid-back space that everyone would feel welcome in, the place has worked out very well, we've had visitors from all over the world. We are big advocates of jiujitsu tourism and get great feedback on our clubs friendly atmosphere.. as well as great classes! We're so proud of the decent, honest people who make up our community.
'Gratitude and Progress' is up on the wall and it's these two values that we strive to lead our community by, being incredibly grateful for the lives we lead, the friends we have and the great training and experiences we get to share. Travel is a big part of our approach, we travel regularly to progress our teaching and train at some of the best in Jiujitsu spots in the world, joining seminars and classes by Roger Gracie, Mauricio Gomes and John Danaher among others.
Community is key at Inspire, all of us have family who train at the club, we've always taught kids as well as adults, we have No-Gi classes, Gi classes, Take down class, Comp class, Women only classes and kids classes, from really young to teens. Everyone is welcome!
